We highly suggest that you bookmark this page as we will be updating this in the next few weeks.  Last update: August 20.

Information at a Glance

The PH1200 and the Audax Mindoro 600/1000 will start from Filipiniana Hotel in Calapan on October 1, 4AM. No need for qualifying rides for the Audax 600 and the Audax 1000.  However, there is a qualification for the PH1200 (see below info).

The PH1200 in Mindoro and the Audax 1000km will only be offered in the Philippines every 4 years.  Should you miss this, the next edition will be in 2026.

Registration closes on September 19 for the 1000km and 1200km categories while registration closes on September 24 for the 600km Audax.

Registration fees for the 1000 and 1200 already covers the basic support needed for this distance.  Some might find it quite expensive but note that this fee is one of the cheapest registration fees in the world given the support to be provided.

Cut-off times are: 40 hours for the 600km, 75 hours for the 1000km and 90 hours for the 1200km.

Pre-Requisites for the Mindoro Rides

There is NO Pre-requisite ride requirement for the 600km and 1000km Audax rides.  However, we strongly suggest that only those who have done at least a 400km audax in the past sign up to join the 1000km.  As for the PH1200km ride, one must satisfy at least one of the following:

1) Completion of at least an official 400km in the 2022 season

2) Completion of an official 1200km (or higher) Brevet in the 2022 season (e.g. London-Edinburgh-London)

Event Insurance

We do have a personal accident insurance amounting to Php 30,000 for medical reimbursement.  Most, if not all, Audax rides and LRM rides in the world don't cover this.  Even the recently-concluded London-Edinburgh-London didn't have this.  We strongly believe that cyclist should be responsible for taking out their own individual insurance to support their  cycling lifestyle.  Even without events, as long as you are a cyclist and you go out on the roads, you should be responsible enough to have this.

Refund Policy

Last day to request for refund of registration fees and add-ons is on September 16.  We would have paid for most incidentals, hotels, insurance, etc. by September 17.

Pre-Ride Check-In

Everyone has to attend the pre-ride check-in on September 30.  There will also be a ride event briefing on that day at 5PM at Filipiniana Hotel Calapan.

Controls

All of the control points are situated near sari-sari stores or convenience stores where one can buy drinks and have a meal. We would like to encourage to #SupportLocal as much as possible.  We also try to source most of the items needed for this weekend from local bakeshops, eateries and suppliers.

Most controls except the ones in Pola and Socorro will provide the following:

- drinks (could be any of the following: water, coke, coffee or energy drink)

- light snacks (could be any of the following: biscuits, fruits, peanut butter sandwiches, nutella sandwiches, local delicacies, hard-boiled eggs or pastries)

Expect no wifi and no charging stations at the checkpoints.  We highly suggest you put a powerbank inside your "special needs" bags.

For the 1000km and 1200km participants, the Sablayan checkpoint and the Magsaysay checkpoint (non-stamping controle) will have basic shower and sleeping facilities included in your registration fee.  Audax PH can arrange optional additional shower and sleeping facility can be arranged for Mamburao (which you will pass through 4 times).

Other sleeping and shower facilities can be booked directly by the participants in the areas of Pinamalayan, Bulalacao and Abra de Ilog should you feel the need to do so.

Bag Drop Service at Bongabong, V-Express in Rizal and Sablayan (accessible on the way out and on the way back)

1) Please use a small bag that has a weight no more than 2.5kgs.  Please don't put any bottles or tubes of liquids or oil in your bag.  Please make sure this is labelled with your name and the particular checkpoint where you want to have access to your bag.

2) Please hand this to us during the Pre-Ride Check-In from 2pm-7pm.

3) After the closing time of each ride category, your drop bags will be at the finish area for collection.  However, this is subject to the marshals getting back on-time after the checkpoint cut-off.  We would like to ask everyone's patience and understanding should there be a delay on this one.  There are sometimes emergencies that they need to attend to.  If you can't wait for your special needs bags at the finish, kindly let us know right away so we can arrange pick-up in Makati or sending it back to you by courier.  Please note that you will have to cover courier fees.

Frequently Asked Questions

1) I am registered to do the 1200km, if I only finish 600km, will it be credited for the 600km Audax Finish?

NO.  You can only enter one event and you have to complete the one you entered to get credit.  The 600km done is also not the official 600km Audax route for Mindoro.

2) Why is the 1000km and 1200km registration fees significantly higher?

We have incorporated the sleeping and shower facilities to remove the guess work from your end.  The accommodations are quite limited in the island and we wanted to secure all this for the participants.  Please review the cue sheet and the locations of the sleeping/shower facilities.  Strategize wisely.  If you want to have an extra facility available to you in Mamburao, we can arrange this for you.  Please get email us at info@audax.ph.

3) What happens if I arrive late at a control?

If the marshals are still at the checkpoint, you can have your brevet card stamped.  However, if they are not there anymore, you should take a photo showing that you are at the checkpoint at a certain time (take a photo of a watch or proof of this).  You can proceed if you think you can still make the total cut-off time of your ride distance.  The cut-off times have been designed to give you a proper estimate if you can finish the entire ride or not.  If you're not making the checkpoint closing times within the 1st half of the ride, that's a big sign that you probably won't finish the distance within the total cut-off time.

4) If I finish and I am out of time, what happens?

For the 600km and the 1000km, which are under Audax Club Parisien, one won't be given a finisher medal and his result won't be homologated.  However, your finish time will still be duly recognized and will be posted in the official results.  For the 1200km, which is under Les Randonneurs Mondiaux, we "might" extend the official cut-off time depending on the circumstances during the event (just like in London-Edinburgh-London).  This rarely happens though so please don't expect this.  Should you still not make it within the extended cut-off time, your finish time will still be published in the results and you can still receive your finisher medal.  However, your result won't be homologated and won't be accepted as a Pre-Registration ride for Paris Brest Paris.

5) Will you collect me if I don't finish the ride and decide to quit in the middle of the ride?

NO.  The audax rides have always been self-supported rides and you are responsible for your own health and safety.  However, should you not finish the ride, we suggest that you get to the nearest open checkpoint where the marshals are still working.  They can help arrange transport for you or if we have space in our vehicles, we would gladly take you with us going back.  However, you will have to wait for marshal duties to finish and there is no guarantee that there will be vehicles to carry you back.  Some checkpoint marshals will be on motorbikes and not in vehicles.

PLEASE MAK SURE YOU HAVE A PLAN IN CASE THINGS GO WRONG.  We do have an audax hotline but one should still practice self-sufficiency.  On this note, the Audax Hotline number is +63 919 5927832.

6) Can I bring a Support Vehicle?

Due to the road conditions in the Philippines, the response time to address emergencies and the lack of safety for women cyclists, the Philippines has been allowed by Audax Club Parisien to use support and gear vehicles for the main purpose of safety and security.  With the PH1200 happening in 2022, we needed to get permission from Les Randonneurs Mondiaux regarding the use of said vehicles.  Please see below guidelines for the use of vehicles in all types of brevets:

- No assistance from the support vehicle in between checkpoints.  Rider may not have physical contact with the vehicle, get in, or rest in the vehicle at any time during the brevet.  Checkpoints refer to designated stops along the route (can be a brevet-stamping/QR code scanning checkpoint or simply an identified checkpoint by Audax Randonneurs Philippines).

- While the vehicle may be used to carry tools, food, clothes and gear, rider will only have access from the vehicle at the checkpoints.

- At night, the support vehicle can leap frog (without impeding other cyclists and motorists).  The vehicle may be in sight of the rider at all times during the night.   No direct follow.

- No drafting behind the support vehicle nor may the rider/s ride in the light of the vehicle.   No direct follow.

- Support vehicles should be mindful of other cyclists on the roads AT ALL TIMES.  No abrupt overtaking.

These rules are pretty straightforward.  Let's not over-complicate and over-think this.  When in doubt, ask yourself if the support provided is aligned with the "safety and security" reason of having the support vehicles.  A tire puncture or a bike change (in between checkpoints) is not an emergency.  Surely, one can ride from one checkpoint to another without having to be supported by a vehicle.  These are also the same rules applied in Paris Brest Paris and in most Audax-approved countries.  Let us not abuse this privilege given to the Philippines.  There is no shame in riding your support vehicles and quitting but please be honest.  Keep your integrity intact and be good stewards of this sport.

7) Will people be able to check my progress online?

Yes.  Progress of each rider can be seen HERE.  This file will be updated accordingly as each 1000km and 1200km participant passes through a checkpoint.  Please expect a delay due to areas with very weak signal in the island.  We will try our best to update this file real-time.

8) Do I have to bring my brevet card with me at all times?  YES.
