Due to Typhoon Ulysses, there are a lot of registered randonneurs who were unable to do the November 14 Smile Train X Audax PH Virtual Brevet Challenge. A lot of our randonneurs were affected by the typhoon and some volunteered to help others during this time. While the Smile Train ride on November 14 is over, Audax Philippines will still be holding another Virtual Brevet Challenge for those who registered accordingly. This is to accommodate those who were affected by Typhoon Ulysses. We are also extending this ride for those who did the ride last Saturday as a form of THANKS for your active participation. Please read below mechanics:
1) Who can join this November 21 Virtual Brevet Challenge?
We had to limit the participants that we will monitor due to IT and administrative constraints. We will only accommodate those who registered for the Smile Train X Audax PH ride and are under Team Audax Randonneurs Philippines. Please see official list below. Those who did their ride last Saturday (November 14) are also welcome to do another Virtual Brevet Challenge this coming Saturday again.
2) What if I wasn't registered but want to participate in the Virtual Brevet Challenge this Saturday?
Fret not! If you haven't registered for the ride and you would want your effort to be counted and receive the personalized digital certificate, you can pay a small fee of Php 250 to the following bank account: BPI 0420-0304-28, Account Name: Carmela Patricia S. Pearson. This will be donated to the Sagip Kapamilya Ulysses initiative of ABSCBN. Please send us the payment confirmation via the Facebook page of Audax Randonneurs Philippines or through email at mailer.audax@gmail.com. We will share to the community the final donation count for this initiative by November 22.
3) What categories are available for the November 21 Virtual Brevet Challenge?
- 3-hour Challenge (time-based)
- 4-hour Challenge (time-based)
- 5-hour Challenge (time-based)
- The Yummy 200km! (distance-based)
* To encourage inclusivity, you can do this outdoors or even indoors. You can use any platform for indoor rides, choose any terrain and elevation gain. What we are after is the moving time for the time-based challenges and distance for those who want to do the whole yummy 200km! You can do this with friends outside or virtually. You can create meet-ups and encourage everyone to finish the target goal!
** Just like the Audax, this will highly depend on your honesty. This isn't a race. You can make this as hard or as easy as you want. You can choose to do one or more of the challenges. Please listen to your body. Stay hydrated and do this in a well-ventilated/cool place. Pace it like how you would pace in the audax. :)
4) How to submit my proof of ride?
Please submit the screenshot or your proof of your November 21 ride (Strava, Garmin connect, etc.) on or before November 22, 5PM. If you have cyclo computers that don't register rides in Strava and other online platforms, that's fine too! Just send us a photo of your cyclocomputer showing the time or the distance WITH a newspaper or mobile phone showing date and time of event. This is just to make sure you did the challenge on the specified date. You can send your proof of ride to mailer.audax@gmail.com or to the Facebook Page of Audax Randonneurs Philippines.
5) Timeline to Remember:
November 21: Virtual Brevet Challenge Day
November 22, 5PM: Deadline of submitting Proof of Ride
November 22, 8PM: Tentative Results of the November 21 Virtual Brevet Challenge will be out
November 26: Release of final results and personalized digital certificates
Please follow above instructions and guidelines. Should you have any questions/concerns that can't be answered by the article above, please let us know. With that said, thank you for joining us and looking forward to seeing more ride submissions in the next weekend! :)
