Ever since we started Audax riding in Subic back in December 2010, the start location has always been inside the Subic Bay Freeport Zone (SBFZ). However, the upcoming Audax rides on December 7, 2019 will be different to avoid conflict with the Southeast Asian Games happening inside SBFZ. December 7 morning activities location will be at the Olongapo City Hall. So, what does this mean during the Audax weekend?
Onsite Registration and Brevet Card Collection (by those who registered in advance) on December 6, 4-7pm will still be at Mango Valley 1. Ride finish and post-ride meals on December 7 will still be at Mango Valley 1. The only thing that really changed is the venue in the morning of December 7 - Olongapo City Hall, more specifically:
1) onsite and brevet card collection from 2:30-4am
2) start of the ride at 4am
GUIDELINES:
1) You may still park your vehicles in Mango Valley and just cycle to Olongapo City Hall. It is just 3km away from Mango Valley 1. Finish is still at Mango Valley 1 so it makes sense to park your car in the hotel premises. Please see below location map:

2) If you have a support vehicle following you in the ride, please advise your driver to park somewhere along the route so as not to impede traffic inside the City Hall premises. It might be tight at the start location so let's all be sensitive and considerate of other motorists and cyclists. We will have some marshals advising drivers not to park inside the City Hall premises. The city hall was nice enough to allow us to start our ride so let's be mindful and considerate at all times. Advise your drivers to do leap frogging instead of direct follow. I will be posting another SAG reminder in the next few days.
3) From the Olongapo City Hall, just head to the direction of the RH5 National Highway also called the Olongapo-Bugallon Road. You may still use the cue sheet posted in the ride information page but with the minor change of the start location. To avoid confusion, a David's Salon van will be leading the start of the peloton for the first few kilometres until we hit this highway to ensure nobody gets lost. This is pretty straightforward and you can refer to the google map photo below:

Lastly, randonneurs are known to be flexible and adaptable to change. This is just a minor hiccup for the ride on December 7 and we would like to ask for everybody's cooperation on this one. Audax Randonneurs Philippines has tried our best to find a good location for the start and we think that changing the start venue is better than changing the date of the ride. Please bear with us and share this information to those who will be joining us in the first Audax rides of the 2020 Audax season. Thank you! :)
