05/27/2024 | Carmela Pearson

We have just concluded the 200km Audax Gensan and 110km Populaire last weekend.  Please check the below files for the tentative results and let us know by May 31 of any comments/questions so we can double-check from our end and do the necessary adjustments before we submit the results to Paris on June 1.  You can reach us at info@audax.ph.  Let us not spam the Facebook group/page of Audax Randonneurs Philippines.  Please note that your result reflects your elapsed time = scanned time at the finish.  It doesn't reflect the elapsed time in your Strava or GPS devices.

Audax Gensan is back after 4 years!  And what better way to welcome back the Audax Gensan than introducing the very first official Audax routes heading to Glan!  I've always seen Gensan as a formidable underdog to Davao.  While it's not as popular as the Davao rides, the Gensan route can definitely throw a punch thanks to the Pangyan-Batulaki climb and a few more as "dessert".  I remember the first time I went up those climbs back in 2018 and being told by Junrey Navarra (one of the famous Gensan-based professional cyclists who managed to be part of the continental team of Team Dimension Data), good luck on that climb!  Add some nasty heat and tree-less stretches, the course is not for the uninitiated.

While the course is tough, our randonneurs were tougher.  You can see the focus and determination of everyone last Saturday especially as they reached the finish.  We saw a lot of randonneurs who came all the way from Davao Region, Misamis Oriental, Cebu, Bukidnon, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Palawan, Negros Occidental and the Bicol Region.  It was a festive weekend in Audax Gensan and we have so many people to thank!

Thank you to Mr. Rogelio Evangelio from the Office of the President, the Province of Sarangani, Governor Rogelio Pacquiao and the Provincial Administrator Atty. Ryan Ramos.  Thank you to General Santos LGU, Mayor Lorelie G. Pacquiao, Chief of Staff Atty. Hajji Herrero and Mr. Dave Homo.  Thank you to Microtel by Wyndham Gensan, Le Minerale, TADECO and Anflocor for the continued support.  Last and definitely not the least, Daghang Salamat sa Centurion Cycling Club Mindanao and their tireless volunteers who were genuinely very present from the planning, execution and even the post-ride endeavors of Audax Gensan.  Special shoutout to Mr. Richard Evangelio, Mr. Giovanni Flaviano, Mr. Alexander Regaspi and Mr. Patrick Baruiz for all the help, blow-by-blow updates and adding some processes that can help improve how we deliver the audax rides in Mindanao.  The level of commitment and concern for other cyclists were definitely felt and Mindanao is truly lucky to have these very experienced randonneurs at the helm of Audax Gensan last weekend.

Truly, we are excited for the 1st ever 600km Audax in Mindanao happening in September!
