Tentative Results: 200km Audax Cavite + 100km Populaire 2025

01/26/2025 | Carmela Pearson

We have just concluded the 200km Audax Cavite and 100km Populaire on January 25.  Please check the below files for the tentative results and let us know by January 31 of any comments/questions so we can double-check from our end and do the necessary adjustments before we submit the results to Paris on February 1.  You can reach us at info@audax.ph.  Let us not spam the Facebook group/page of Audax Randonneurs Philippines.  Please note that your result reflects your elapsed time = scanned time at the finish.  It doesn't reflect the elapsed time in your Strava or GPS devices.

Audax Cavite will be the infamous "hell of the south" due to its very unforgiving terrain.  Even for those who have done this ride last year and for those who have done countless reconnaissance rides on these roads, this never gets easy.  But we all know that this is doable with the right mindset, training and support system.

A new record has been set in this edition of Audax Cavite as Mr. Nash Lim of Factor Philippines clocked in 6 hours and 47 minutes.  Very impressive for a solo finish and for breaking the previous record by more than an hour!  The Audax spirit was very much alive last Saturday as you can feel everyone just rooting for each other to finish the ride.  Finish or not finish, everyone was held in high regard.  We have seen a lot of returning randonneurs giving this ride a go for the 2nd time around.  We have seen a few tears at the finish as they couldn't believe what they have just accomplished.  We decided to move the Audax Cavite in a cooler month this year to see if we can improve on the 30% DNF rate last year and we are happy to report that the DNF rate has gone down to 25% this year.  And as we see the community mature and practice responsible cycling, we are happy to report that we had zero reported accidents.

Audax Cavite 2025 is extra special because of the unsung heroes behind these rides.  TRPH hosted the 1st checkpoint while RCCMNL hosted the 2nd checkpoint.  One can really feel the love and care of these seasoned cycling clubs to their fellow randonneurs.  These volunteers are all multiple audax finishers, Super Randonneurs and even Les Randonneur Mondiaux (LRM) finishers who know exactly what our Audax Cavite warriors were going through.  They gave the right support and encouragement especially for those 200km riders on their last push to the finish.  Thank you, TRPH and RCCMNL!

We would like to thank Mr. Ronald Cudiamat for his leadership and Mr. Vernie Caisip for all the behind-the-scenes work.  Mr. Cudiamat has done an exceptional job of seeing this ride through since last year's inaugural Audax Cavite.  He was on top of everything - from creating the route, finalizing venues, coordinating with the LGUs, promoting the local tourism, encouraging his fellow Caviteños to support and cheer for the cyclists, organizing volunteers for the Audax and being soooo present last Saturday... It's a testament of how much he truly loves this sport and his province.  When we were conceptualizing Audax Cavite early last year, he has been very passionate and very organized to help make Audax Cavite a success.  The long-distance cyclists last weekend and the province of Cavite is very very lucky to have you.  Thank you!

Thank you to the Province of Cavite, the Province of Batangas, the municipality of Indang, the municipality of Nasugbu and all the other local government units who showed support.  Thank you to the Tourism Office of Cavite and the Cavite police.  Thank you to the Cavite State University - Indang Campus for hosting the venue.  Thank you to TRPH and RCCMNL for the amazing checkpoint work.  Thank you to our corporate partners - EMV Farm, David's Salon Inc. and Nutrition Depot.  Thank you to our ever reliable Audax core team (Shai, Sherlee, Ate Cil, Ann, Solo and the DSI boys).  Last but definitely not the least, thank you to all the brave souls who showed up at the starting line - finish or not finish.  All heroes in our book.  We hope to see you in the next Audax rides!
