12/07/2023 | Carmela Pearson

We have just concluded the 200km/300km Audax and 100km Populaire in Subic last weekend.  The Audax Subic in December is co-presented by #AIAVitality.  Thank you AIA for supporting the long-distance cycling community of the Philippines!

Please check the below files for the tentative results and let us know by December 12 of any comments/questions so we can double-check from our end and do the necessary adjustments before we submit the results to Paris on December 13.  You can reach us at info@audax.ph.  Let us not spam the Facebook group/page of Audax Randonneurs Philippines.  Please note that your result reflects your elapsed time = scanned time at the finish.  It doesn't reflect the elapsed time in your Strava or GPS devices.

The Audax rides last weekend were still very challenging given the temperatures mid-day.  There were reported minor accidents and some bad cramping from a few participants.  But the weekend was an overall success given the very positive atmosphere from Pre-Ride Check-In up to the finish for both Saturday and Sunday rides.  If there was anything that really stood out last weekend - it was the sense of camaraderie and compassion among randonneurs.  Teams made sure none of their teammates got left behind.  Some solo riders gained new friends.  There were a lot of stories of strangers helping strangers... which is something that really attracted me to this sport from the very beginning.  The sense of compassion towards our fellow cyclists was very apparent especially with The True Living Cyclists owning one of the most critical checkpoints in last weekend's 300km Audax Subic ride.  I can't stress how vital it is to have fellow Super Randonneurs and Audax addicts wait for you at a critical checkpoint.  They sure know how to uplift the weary cyclist and give them the proper encouragement to push on.  Thank you so much for being a blessing to the Philippine long-distance cycling community, TLC!

Thank you to SBMA, the Zambales and Pangasinan Provincial Governments for the standby-support.  Thank you to the Tourism offices of Subic Bay Freeport Zone and the Zambales province for the coordination on-the-ground.  Aside from AIA Vitality, we would also like to thank Apeman Philippines, Crystalline Water and Nutrition Depot for supporting the Audax rides in Subic by providing hydration.  Thank you to the tireless DSI crew led by Ms. Jola Gonzales.  Last but not the least, thank you to everyone who showed up last weekend.  Your dedication to this sport is truly inspiring not just to your fellow cyclists but also to your friends and family who have witnessed you all grow into the ultra-distance cyclist that you are now.  The future is bright for the Pinoy randonneur... Thanks to our amazing community!  Enjoy the holidays!
