We have just concluded the inaugural Audax Occidental Mindoro 200km/300km + 130km Populaire last March 18. Please review and check the below tentative results and let us know by March 23 of any comments/questions so we can double check from our end and do the necessary changes before we submit the results to Paris on March 24. You can reach us at info@audax.ph. Let us not spam the Facebook group/page of Audax Randonneurs Philippines. Please note that the result reflects your elapsed time = scanned time at the finish minus the wave release time. It doesn't reflect the elapsed time in your Strava or GPS devices.

The terrain for Audax Occi Mindoro is relatively flat with the occasional rollers. What made the ride quite challenging was the scorching heat of the sun, the hard cement surface, the nasty headwinds and the lack of tree cover all throughout the course. But all of these challenges were met with enthusiasm as we had a relatively mature set of randonneurs who all made an effort to drive to Batangas port, take the ferry to Abra De Ilog and drive/commute to Mamburao, the start and finish of the March 18 brevets. We even had a few cyclists who flew to Manila all the way from Davao. That's dedication to the sport and we were all rewarded with stunning vistas throughout the ride.
Audax Occi Mindoro was small and intimate with less than 40 participants. This reminded me so much of how and why we started the Audax in the country. When the numbers are small, the more special it becomes as the participants are able to mingle and get to know each other. Old friendships were nurtured and new ones forged. It was nice to be riding with Redg and Cyril again. I've ridden with Redg since our very first official brevet in Singapore back in 2009 and I've ridden with Cyril since the very first official brevet in the country in 2010. And I'm so glad to be riding with them up to now and hopefully in Paris in August.
For the record, Mr. Joseph Michael Nacpil clocked in 9:51 in the 200km course while Mr. Dennis Tojos clocked in 12:52 in the 300km course. Quite inspiring and they were all smiles as we saw them on the roads.
While we were undermanned and bone-tired, I was very happy. I think I was extra chatty this time and was such in a good mood even if I only had 2 hours of sleep and had to wait for participants until 1AM. I had the privilege of working with my ever-dependable sister (Solo!) and Joyette, who I've also ridden with in my 1st official brevet in Singapore with Redg. Joyette did an excellent job coordinating with the provincial government who made their presence felt all throughout the 300km course. I needed people who understand the demands of organizing these rides and Joyette and Redg definitely stepped up and even went out of their way to ensure we keep that randonneuring spirit alive opening their farm and beach to our small band of randonneurs.
Thank you to the Provincial Government of Occidental Mindoro for all the police and ambulance support. Thank you to La Gensol Hotel, our base hotel. Thank you to Ms. Jola Gonzales who remotely helped us prepare for the ride. Thank you to Kuya Melvin and Kuya Eric for the tireless work at the checkpoints. Again, thank you Tito Plops, Joyette and Redg for the warm welcome to your province. Thank you to the one above for keeping us all safe... ZERO ACCIDENTS! To everyone who showed up and to those who I was able to talk to last weekend, thank you so much. I truly needed that to get me going especially for this upcoming Audax in Subic. We really felt the sincere love for the distance and Audax Occi Mindoro is definitely one of those rides that has made a very positive impact to ALL participants (even to those who didn't officially finish). Maraming maraming salamat po...
