02/04/2024 | Carmela Pearson

We have just concluded the 200km/300km Audax and 100km Populaire in Dumaguete last weekend.  Please check the below files for the tentative results and let us know by February 8 of any comments/questions so we can double-check from our end and do the necessary adjustments before we submit the results to Paris on February 9.  You can reach us at info@audax.ph.  Let us not spam the Facebook group/page of Audax Randonneurs Philippines.  Please note that your result reflects your elapsed time = scanned time at the finish.  It doesn't reflect the elapsed time in your Strava or GPS devices.

If there is anything worth mentioning about Audax Dumaguete this weekend, it's that all cyclists suffered from the really strong headwinds and crosswinds going back to Dumaguete.  While the weather forecast was overcast and cool, the sun made its presence felt as it was scorching mid-day.  But despite the weather, the terrain was still challenging and beautiful at the same time.  The camaraderie was something else and while we all suffered, knowing you have good riding buddies around made the whole ride quite pleasant.

A new 200km Audax Dumaguete record has been set.  Mr. Francis Jordan Dayon clocked in 6 hours and 2 minutes breaking last year's record that he has also set with Mr. Estelito Hijalga, Jonathan Simbajon and Paul Edgar Gambong.  Superb effort considering that this Audax also had the worst headwind in any audax ride in the country since 2010!  In every Audax, one of the biggest KPIs we track is the number of accidents recorded.  We're happy to say that we had ZERO accidents this weekend.  The community is definitely maturing... responsible cycling at its finest. ;)

Thank you to Motor Ace Philippines, Inc. for bringing the Audax to the Visayas.  The randonneurs in the region are grateful for the opportunity to experience these crazy rides.  Thank you to the leadership of Mr. Ivee Cabahug and Ms. Jola Gonzales (who was able to lead remotely and do the necessary coordination to run the operations smoothly).  Thank you to everyone who showed up.  Someone wise did they say that "Eighty percent of success is showing up".  You are all inspirations in our book and we hope to see you all again really soon!
